Select a Dental Insurance Plan for Your Family
A dental insurance policy for you or your family helps with costs associated with dental procedures and cleanings. Many dental services are not covered by medical plans nowadays. These are broken into three categories of coverage:
- Preventative - These services include routine checkups and cleanings. When you purchase a policy, you have access to these services right away.
- Basic restorative - These services include tooth extractions, fillings, and root canals. There is typically a six-month waiting period before insurance will cover these services.
- Major - Crowns, bridges, dentures, and other major dental procedures are covered under this type of plan. A major dental insurance plan will cover up to 50% of these services, up to your plan's maximum. These also typically have a 12-month waiting period.
Orthodontia benefits are not included most of the time and require you to add a rider or pay more in your premium for them.
